Then and Now: Randy Robitaille

After a 40-point campaign with the Minnesota Wild in 2005-2006, Randy Robitaille joined the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization in the summer of 2006. The now 37-year-old forward played all of 28 games with the Orange and Black before being dealt to a divisional rival. In his 28 games with Philly, Robitaille totaled five goals and 12 helpers. His first goal with the Flyers came against Johan Hedberg in a 3-2 shootout win over the Atlanta Thrashers on October 26th, 2006. Denis Tolpeko spent two seasons in the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization, as he endured the majority of his time during the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons with the Philadelphia Phantoms. However, the undrafted Russian left winger enjoyed 26 games with the Orange and Black during the 2007-2008 campaign in which his lone goal in the NHL came at a crucial point in a game against one of the best goaltenders in the league. Tim Ramholt never played a game for the Philadelphia Flyers. In fact, the only NHL game Ramholt ever took part in was as a member of the Calgary Flames in the club’s  4-1 defeat to the Anaheim Ducks on November 29, 2007. Cooke suspended for rest of regular season, first round of playoffs

The National Hockey League on Monday afternoon issued its sternest warning yet to players who seek to make contact with an opponent’s head. It has suspended Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke for the final 10 games of the regular season plus the entire first round of the playoffs. Cooke delivered an elbow to the side of the face of New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh at the 4:36 mark of the third period of Sunday’s 5-2 Penguins loss.
