The Philadelphia Flyers dropped a 3-0 contest to the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Wells Fargo Center. Ryan Carter, Matt D’Agostini, and Adam Henrique had the goals for Jersey in the win, while Martin Brodeur posted a 23-save shutout to end the Devils’ 10-game losing streak and hand New Jersey their first win in April. Ilya Bryzgalov suffered the loss despite the fact he made five more saves than Brodeur and the puck was in his end of the ice for most of the tilt. After putting themselves in a very big hole, the Philadelphia Flyers ended this week with two emphatic wins to show that they could be a playoff team. It might be too little too late, but the Orange and Black will carry their two-game winning streak into their upcoming seven-day stretch. Steve Mason was outstanding stopping 38 of 40 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the New York Rangers 4-2 on Tuesday night. “Certainly he seems to be feeling comfortable here”, Coach Peter Laviolette said of his new goaltender. ”He’s in control of the net. He’s got a good glove. He seems to be seeing the puck really well. The Philadelphia Flyers saw their four-game win streak snapped today in Winnipeg with a 4-1 loss to the Jets. Evander Kane and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist, while Blake Wheeler registered two assists in a four-goal second period for the Jets. Ruslan Fedotenko was the lone Flyer to beat Ondrej Pavelec, as the goaltender made 30 saves for the win. Ilya Bryzgalov made 12 saves on 16 shots against before being pulled after the conclusion of the second period. The Philadelphia Flyers extended their season-high winning streak to four games tonight with a 5-3 decision over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. Sean Couturier and Erik Gustafsson both recorded two-assist nights, while Jay Rosehill was credited with the eventual game-winner against his former squad. Ilya Bryzgalov may have allowed three goals on 28 shots, but he and the Flyers’ defense did come up big in the third period when the Leafs surged late in the contest.
