The Flyers learned the hard way on Sunday afternoon that more chances don’t always lead to more goals as the Kings beat the Flyers 1-0, behind 40 saves from Jonathan Quick. Drew Doughty had the only goal of the game scoring before the twenty-second mark of the second period. The Orange and Black outworked and outplayed the Kings the entire game, but their inability to put at least one shot past Quick results in the loss, the fifth time the Eastern leaders have been blanked this year. Flyers Win Low Scoring Game, Beat Canes 2-1
Goals by Jeff Carter and Danny Briere led the Flyers to their third straight win. After forty scoreless minutes, both of the Flyers goals along with Tuomo Ruutu’s goal for the Hurricanes came in the final period of regulation. The win pushes the Flyers to 36-13-5 on the season. The game started out just like the Flyers had planned. Leino Helps Philly Edge Out Win Against Nashville
Hosting the Nashville Predators for their only meeting this season, the Philadelphia Flyers were on the right side of an explosive third period as they won 3-2 tonight. The third period saw a total of three goals in over a span of ten minutes. Ville Leino had his first career two-goal game scoring both of Philadelphia’s third period tallies. The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Montreal Canadiens tonight by a 5-2 count to earn their 1,000th home victory in franchise history. Chris Pronger tied a career-high with 4 assists, Mike Richards had 2 assists, and Danny Briere had a goal and an assist as the Flyers dominated the visitors for the majority of the game.
