The Philadelphia Flyers seem to heading in the right direction after they recorded wins in their last two games. After they lost both the game and a crucial player on Friday, the Orange and Black pulled off back-to-back wins in their last two contests. The Flyers start a four-game week tomorrow, as they finish the seven-day stretch with a pair of games that start a lengthy road trip. On Friday, the Washington Capitals handed Philly a 3-2 loss at the Verizon Center. The Philadelphia Flyers lost their third straight game tonight in a goalless, penalty-filled 3-0 effort to the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. Martin Brodeur recorded a 24-save shutout, while Travis Zajac provided the game-winning goal just over a minute into the contest. David Clarkson and Ilya Kovalchuk also scored for Jersey in the win, as the Flyers’ special teams hurt them yet again early in the 2013 campaign. The Philadelphia Flyers had a rough start to this condensed 48-game schedule as they dropped both ends of a back-to-back over the weekend. Although they came out with more energy and effort, the Philadelphia Flyers fell to the Devils for a fourth straight game with a 3-1 defeat at the Wells Fargo Center tonight in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, ending one of the most interesting playoffs in recent memory. In Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series, the Philadelphia Flyers mysteriously showed little to no desire to win tonight’s affair, and the New Jersey Devils muscled their way to a 4-1 road victory. David Clarkson scored his first of the 2012 playoffs with 8:43 left in regulation to give the Devils a 2-1 edge. The Flyers finished their 2011-12 regular season with a pair of games that didn’t have any kind of effect on the standings, as they beat the Buffalo Sabres and lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
