Flight Plan: Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

­­ Through two games, the Philadelphia Flyers are looking like a good team, but have lacked finish as they’ve been outscored 7-2 thus far in the 2013-2014 season. Luckily, there are 80 more games left as opposed to last year where there would only be 46 games  remaining at this point, and there are some bright spots. After putting themselves in a very big hole, the Philadelphia Flyers ended this week with two emphatic wins to show that they could be a playoff team. It might be too little too late, but the Orange and Black will carry their two-game winning streak into their upcoming seven-day stretch. Flyers Lose Game Of Bounces 2-1 Against Panthers

One awkward carom off the glass was the difference in tonight’s game, as the Flyers lost to the visiting Florida Panthers 2-1. Sean Bergenheim capitalized on a lucky bounce for the Panthers to pot his second game-winning goal of the season, as Philly posted a 36-13 shot advantage in the loss. “I felt like we played the way we wanted,” said Jaromir Jagr after the loss. “We jumped on them, create chances, cycle game, you know.It was just one of those games you can’t score and all of the sudden it’s 2-1.” In the middle stanza, the Panthers extended their …

Carter’s Pair Carry Flyers To 3-2 Win Over Florida

For the second time in eight days, a pair of goals from Jeff Carter gave the Flyers the boost they needed to win as a trip to Florida resulted in a 3-2 win over the Panthers. Carter’s pair within an eleven minute span in the second period along with a first period goal from Scott Hartnell gave the Flyers a win after a terrible loss on Saturday.
