Titans captain done for season

Andy Bohmbach endured a concussion, multiple American Hockey League call-ups that went nowhere, and near-constant roster upheaval, but always held it down this year as the heart, soul and captain of the Trenton Titans. His season is done. Per Mike Ashmore of the Trentonian, Bohmbach was placed on the 21-day injured reserve list by the club on Wednesday, stripping the struggling team of their best player for the final games of the regular season. The report is he’ll need shoulder surgery. Trenton is in action later tonight in Elmira, in the club’s final matchup this year, then will come home …

Reading’s Gill named ECHL’s top goaltender

Stepping into the shoes of Philipp Grubauer, who aided the Royals in their ascension to the top of the Eastern Conference before leaving for Hershey and the Capitals, hasn’t been easy for whomever spent time in the Reading crease in the second half of this season. Nonetheless, with Larry Courville’s club vying for the Brabham Cup and best record in the ECHL, Riley Gill has filled the vacancy beyond all expectations. Future Flyers Report: OHL and WHL playoffs set, Holmstrom signs extension

The playoffs for both the OHL and the WHL start this weekend, as four of the five teams in the two leagues that feature Philadelphia Flyers’ prospects advanced to the postseason. In the OHL, the Oshawa Generals and the London Knights will have home-ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs, while the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds will be on the road to start the 2013 OHL postseason.
