Jamie Fritsch only played one game in the NHL. Unfortunately for Philadelphia Flyers’ fans, his big break could have waited a little bit longer. Similar to this season, the Flyers played the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the 2009 playoffs, as the Pens held the fourth seed in the East and Philly finished fifth. Many players will be remembered for their leadership, whether or not they could perform in the clutch, or if there were unique aspects to their game. For Eric Weinrich, he’ll most likely be remembered for a piece of equipment. The former Flyers’ defenseman that sported a yellow visor throughout his career went on to play for five different teams after his stay in Philly and is currently a scout for another NHL club. Flyers form new affiliation with Trenton of ECHL

Courtesy of the Philadelphia Flyers The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have entered into a minor league affiliation agreement with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL for the 2011-12 season, according to club President Peter Luukko. Once again, a minor-league hockey club within getaway distance has decided to fold its tent. The New Jersey Devils announced on Wednesday that their ECHL affiliate in Trenton will suspend operations, starting with the 2011-12 season. A release on the team’s website said the Devils are “restructuring the organization’s player development system to be more in line with other NHL franchises.” The Trenton Devils are the only club in the ECHL, which is the next tier down from the American Hockey League, which is wholly owned by their NHL parent club.
