Flyers Hold On, Beat Islanders 5-2

Claude Giroux’s power play goal early in the second period would prove to be the game winner, as the Flyers held on to beat the New York Islanders 5-2. Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds scored 59 seconds apart in the second period to give the Flyers an early 2-0 lead. Sean Couturier and Steve Downie assisted Read’s goal. Vincent LeCavalier and Eric Gustafsson assisted on Simmonds goal. Brayden Schenn scored an insurance goal in the third period from Giroux and Jakub Voracek. The Flyers Season In Review: The Good

The Flyers season is over. We fans went on a long ride through a short amount of time. 48 games in fewer than 100 days. Blood, sweat, tears, injuries and fatigue plagued this 2013 Flyers team from the start of the season. But, let’s not forget, the Flyers gave us plenty of memories from this year.
