Blake Kessel is regarded as one of the better defenseman on the Trenton Titans. At 6’2″, 203 pounds, Kessel does a great job in his own end of the rink and can pitch in offensively as well. In his final two years at the University of New Hampshire and his time with the Adirondack Phantoms last season, Kessel posted a total of 16 goals and 67 assists in 133 games. During the 2011-2012 campaign, the tandem of Harry Zolnierczyk and Erik Gustafsson saw their fair share of action with the Philadelphia Flyers. Scott Munroe posted 31 saves and Rob Bordson netted the go ahead goal in the first period as the Adirondack Phantoms defeated the Albany Devils, 4-2, in front of 3,745 spectators at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday. Andrew Johnston and Brandon Manning each contributed a goal for the Phantoms (20-24-3) in a wild first period which saw Adirondack continuing their scoring momentum from last Sundays game against Syracuse. “It’s not easy sometimes to keep that kind of an attitude when you have that many days off,” said Phantoms head coach Terry Murray. “But I really like how overall …

Scott Laughton participated in 32 games for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL before he joined the Philadelphia Flyers’ roster for the start of the 2013 season. The gritty forward suited up for five games with Philly before the Orange and Black sent him down. Scott Munroe was the silent hero on Sunday afternoon, as he stopped 42-of-43 shots while the rest of the Phantoms uncharacteristically came together as a team and took it to the Syracuse Crunch by a 6-1 score in front of 3,076 fans at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Future Flyers Report: Stolarz Unbeaten with Knights, Cousins Leads OHL in Scoring

Goaltender Anthony Stolarz had a record of 2-5-0 and a save percentage under .900 with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks before he joined the London Knights of the OHL in early January. Since his move, Stolarz has appeared in six games for the Knights and has yet to lose. The 45th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft is 4-0-0 in the OHL with a goals against average of 1.84 and a save percentage of .937. The first period of tonight’s game was sloppy, fast paced, and loaded with ups and downs. Here are some noteworthy items: The defensemen are playing terrible defensively but they are also jumping into the play, generating offense and scoring goals. Obviously, there needs to be more balance here but, if the defense can spark the forwards, less pressure will be put on the defense and it will all work out in the long run.
