Ftorek’s Blast Gives Kalamazoo 2-1 OT Win Over Titans

The Trenton Titans may have outshot the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 46-27, but the hosts fell 2-1 in overtime last night at the Sun National Bank Center. Sam Ftorek had the game-winner for Kalamazoo with 1:01 left in overtime, while former Trenton Devil Joel Martin stopped 45 shots for the Wings. Brett Lysak had the opening goal for the visitors, while Jacob Cepis’ 14th of 2012-2013 was the lone goal for Trenton. Titans blanked 4-0 by Cyclones

Just when the Trenton Titans seemed to be heading in the right direction, the Cincinnati Cyclones made a visit to the Sun National Bank Center and hand the Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate a 4-0 loss on Saturday. Garrett Wilson had a two-goal game for Cincinnati, while former Trenton Devil Dan Eves and Mike Embach had two-assist games to end the Cyclones’ three-game losing streak. Michael Houser posted a 33-save shutout to end Trenton’s brief two-game winning streak. Trenton Update: 12/21-12/27

All that separates the Toledo Walleye, the team sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, and the Evansville IceMen, who sit last in the Eastern Conference, is 10 points. With that being said, a team that was in the Trenton Titans’ position of being out of the playoff picture can quickly change with a string of wins. Over the last two weeks, that’s exactly what the Titans have done to move from the bottom of the conference to seventh in the East. Trenton Update: 12/14-12/20

The Trenton Titans started to climb out of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference cellar this week by winning three of their four contests. In addition to the six points they gained in their three victories, the Titans earned a point in their only loss this week, which came in an overtime defeat at home. Trenton also showcased their offensive abilities by scoring 18 goals over the four-game span, as they potted at least four goals in each tilt.
