Frequent Flyer Miles: Manning to stay in Philly, Zherdev on the move again, Picard to Austria

The biggest news in terms of current and past Philadelphia Flyers is the signing of Brandon Manning to a one-year deal. The blue liner has appeared in 10 games for the Orange and Black over the last two seasons, as well as 111 games for the Adirondack Phantoms. He has two assists and a plus-5 rating in the NHL and 12 goals with 28 assists, as well as 216 PIMs, in the AHL. Manning will come with a cap hit of $675,000 next season. Then and Now: Tony Amonte

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired Tony Amonte in March of 2003 from the Phoenix Coyotes, rescuing the Boston native from an underwhelming free agent situation. In exchange for the veteran forward, Philly gave the Coyotes Guillaume Lefebvre, a third-round pick in the 2003 NHL Draft (with which they chose Tyler Redenbach), and a second-round pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. The 60th overall pick eventually landed in the hands of the New York Rangers, who selected Brandon Dubinsky from the Portland Winterhawks.
