It’s been a while since we’ve discussed Czechs and Slovaks in the Flyers’ system. Today, we’re going to talk about Petr Hubacek, who played only six games with the Flyers but is well known in Europe and has a bit of success with various teams during his career, including the Czech national team. Petr Hubacek was born in Brno and started his career in 1998 with HC Vitkovice, one of the best Extraliga teams during the 90’s. Then and Now: Jaroslav Modry

During the 2008 playoffs, the Philadelphia Flyers pulled off a pair of upsets before ultimately falling to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Finals. Eight different defenseman suited up for the Orange and Black during their unexpected run. Aside from Ryan Parent, who only took part in four postseason games in 2008, Jaroslav Modry played in the fewest number of playoff games with nine appearances.
