Hockey Hilarity: Bryzgalov and Oilers Shutout Predators and Why It Isn’t A Humongous Big Deal

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Yesterday, Ilya Bryzgalov (yes, that Ilya Bryzgalov), with the help of the Edmonton Oilers hockey team (yes, that Edmonton Oilers hockey team) recorded a shutout in his first start this season. What is hilarious about this is that people think this is a humongous big deal (yeah, I hate that stupid, cheap, annoying joke too). It’s not. Want to know why? Fake Hockey Help: Injuries to the stars, Versteeg to Chicago, Bryzgalov joins the Oilers

The biggest news of the week around the NHL was the injury to Steven Stamkos. With a broken tibia, Stamkos is expected to be out until at least the Olympics, which doesn’t even seem all that likely for the Tampa Bay forward. I know there are a lot of people out there who are really angry that Sergei Bobrovsky isn’t a Philadelphia Flyer anymore and instead plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Most of them are upset because he went on to win the Vezina Trophy in the lockout shortened season that just passed, but some were legitimately annoyed because the Flyers dealt a kid with a lot of promise (even if …

The Orange and Black List: Bernie Parent’s life as an FBI consultant

When men sign up to play goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers, they take on a certain risk. The risk of losing their mind. Few escape unscathed. Flyers great Bernie Parent helps the FBI round these men up and finds them the help that they need.   BERNIE PARENT pulls up to FBI Headquarters in PHILADELPHIA, PA. He steps out of his shiny, black Porsche and assesses the building. He is met by young agent REBECCA BAKER.   BERNIE Well well well, who is this?   BAKER Special Agent Baker.
