I know that Horton heard a Who but here's Horton as a Who and...I'm sorry.

Metropolitan Division Preview: Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets are the oddest team of the bunch to join the Philadelphia Flyers and the other former Atlantic Division castoffs in the Metropolitan Division. They’ve had a mostly miserable existence in the Western Conference, getting picked on by teams like the Detroit Red Wings (who are in the NEW Atlantic Division — is this confusing enough for you?) and the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blue Jackets made a nice push for the playoffs last year, but came up a few points short. Oddly enough, they already have some division ties between a couple of major trades with the …

Flyers West Update: Carter Comes Alive

Before the Kings traded Jack Johnson and a conditional first-round pick to the Blue Jackets back in February, they were the lowest goal-scoring team in the league. They needed a proven scorer, and they also needed someone who could provide depth. Enter Jeff Carter, apparently now the jewel in the crown. Despite Carter’s impressive regular season numbers — he led the Flyers in goals his last three seasons with the team and has had four 25-plus goal seasons in the NHL — his playoff performance has always been questioned. In Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, Carter made a …

Flyers Fall to Kings in OT

The big storyline coming into what turned out to be a 3-2 overtime victory by the Los Angeles Kings over the Flyers, was the return of Mike Richards, and I think he ended up being the storyline at the end of the game as well. He took a penalty that led to the Flyers tying the game late in the third period, and then set up the winning shot in OT, like we had seen him do for the Orange and Black so many times before. This Saturday night special started off with a bang… literally. Zac Rinaldo levelled training-camp …

Flight Plan week of 02.06.2011

Consistent. If you’re a Philadelphia Flyers fan, over the past four years, you have never seen that word associated with the team you love. “Up and down” or “streaky” or “just plain bad” at times “unbelievably good” at times, but never were any of the teams over the past four years “consistent”. This team is the definition of consistent. They don’t win too many games in a row, they don’t lose too many games in a row, but they consistently show up and consistently get their points and that’s why they have the most wins of any team in the …

Flight Plan week of 12.26.2010

‘Tis the season for road trips as the Flyers head out west on their annual post-Christmas visit to the other conference and try to regain the top spot in the NHL after losing it to Pittsburgh as they remained idle during the Penguins’ last two games. The Penguins hold just a one point lead over the Flyers and the Fly guys have two games in hand as they’ve played 35 to Pittsburgh’s 37.  The Flyers obviously would love to forget what happened a week ago at home, but alas, they would do well not to as they got smoked in …
