Holmgren/Jagr transcript 9/17/11

PAUL HOLMGREN: We just wanted more than anything to give Jaromir a chance to take care of you guys, and give you a chance to meet him and talk to him.  We’re obviously very excited to have Jaromir join us this summer through free agency, and bring him back to the NHL.  We feel he’s still going to be a good player in our league, and we’re looking forward to seeing him do good things for the Flyers this year. Q: Why was this the right fit for you at this point? JAROMIR JAGR:  Well, I already answered that question …

Jagr speaks on Saturday

Q: Why Philadelphia, over Pittsburgh or other teams? Before I start talking, it surprised me when you said money – there were a lot more teams with a higher offer than Philadelphia. For the balance of the season, I will be dipping into the well to ruminate about some things related to my love of the Philadelphia Flyers, and in general about the fan experience as a youngster. This is the ninth in the series of Spectrum Memories. Chris Therien and Jaromir Jagr were just a match made in hockey heaven in the late 1990′s. Therien, the hulking defenseman out of Providence College, who broke in with the Flyers during the lockout-shortened 1995 …
