Then and Now: Arron Asham

Arron Asham has played for six NHL teams over his career and he may be with a seventh when the start of the 2013-2014 season starts. After being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1996 and playing for the squad until 2002, Asham joined the New York Islanders for four seasons. The enforcer then endured a season with the New Jersey Devils before he became a member of the Philadelphia Flyers in the summer of 2008. Asham had a 10-point campaign with the Devils in 2007-2008 and posted 84 PIMs before he had 20 points and 155 PIMs in 78 …

2013 Flyers first round pick, Samuel Morin

Draft day creates more questions than it answers for the Flyers

Coming into yesterday’s draft, it was clear that the Flyers needed to stock up on prospects as a whole and specifically defensemen. In that regard, the team accomplished their mission. However, the moves that they made — as well as ones that they did not — result in some unanswered questions. OH, it’s just the Beginning! Halak, Coburn and more!

With the draft a little over 24 hours away, the rumor mill has begun to churn at full pace.  General Managers are getting a feeling of who is available and for what price.  Over the next 24 hours leading up to the draft you can fully expect the rumors to come in at an unbelievable rate.  Teams will be desperately trying to get cap compliant since it will be dropping from 70.2 million to 64.3 million this year as well.  This is only the beginning, but we have some interesting rumors already hitting the twittersphere. Of course the Philadelphia …

A look at the goaltending market this offseason

With the trade of Jonathan Bernier to the Toronto Maple Leafs the Flyers lost out on a goaltender that I am personally a very big fan of. I think that Bernier is the real deal, and I would have loved to have been able to acquire him. Naturally, if that acquisition were to have happened, an Ilya Bryzgalov compliance buyout would have been inevitable. I am in favor of buying out Bryzgalov simply because of his contract. I’m a numbers and salary cap guy and I think it is absolutely crucial that he leave. While the Flyers could wait another …

Flight plan: 10.07.10

Flight Plan is a new column that will take a more in depth look at the Flyers’ upcoming opponents every week here at Flyers Faithful. The Philadelphia Flyers will kick off their week against two good young teams at two different points in their respective franchise history books. The Pittsburgh Penguins, as we all know, are one of the best young teams in the league today. They have built very well through the draft and have become one of the hardest teams to play against in the NHL. The St. Louis Blues on the other hand are a team on …
