Cal Heeter posted 40 saves and Adirondack tied its season record for fewest shots on goal, but the Phantoms pulled themselves together to post a 4-2 victory over the Portland Pirates on Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Phantoms (27-33-5) set the tempo of the game when Tye McGinn scored just nine seconds after the opening faceoff. Future Flyers Report: OHL and WHL playoffs set, Holmstrom signs extension

The playoffs for both the OHL and the WHL start this weekend, as four of the five teams in the two leagues that feature Philadelphia Flyers’ prospects advanced to the postseason. In the OHL, the Oshawa Generals and the London Knights will have home-ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs, while the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds will be on the road to start the 2013 OHL postseason. With all 20 of the teams in the OHL having played 64 or more of their 68 regular season games, the playoff picture is practically set. Of all the Philadelphia Flyers’ prospects currently in the OHL, each player is either already on a team that has clinched a spot for the postseason or they are on a team that is fighting for the final spot available. It was like someone turned on a light switch late in the third period, as the Adirondack Phantoms scored 3 goals in the last 5:52 of the game to defeat the Connecticut Whale by a score of 4-3 in front of the 4,205 in attendance at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Eric Wellwood tied the game at 14:37 in the third and Jason Akeson completed his first AHL hat trick with the go-ahead goal. Scott Munroe was as steady as ever, posting 25 saves on the night. Future Flyers Report: Stolarz and Alderson Sign, Wahl Added

The Philadelphia Flyers signed a pair of Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to entry-level contracts this week. One of those was expected, as goaltending prospect Anthony Stolarz inked a deal. The other signing wasn’t, as forward Brandon Alderson also joined the organization. Stolarz continues to impress in the OHL with the London Knights.
