The Adirondack Phantoms won half of their games this week, as they ended their lengthy road losing streak in the process. After they went without a single road win in the months of December and January, the Phantoms finally earned a win away from home. Adirondack will try to climb back into the playoff picture this week, as they finish their four-game road trip before they return home on Sunday. The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects. Brendan Ranford moved up from 13th to 10th in WHL scoring after another strong weekly performance. Ranford tallied 8 points (3g, 5a) in 3 games which included two 3 point games. Nick Cousins also had a big week with 6 (2g, 4a) in 3 games which included a 4 point (1g, 3a) performance on Sunday. The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects. I haven’t updated for a while, so this report is going to cover the week of January 30 – February 5. The Phantoms ended their five-game losing streak this week, as they went 1-1-0 in a pair of games in Adirondack. Despite a win in their first game of the week, the Phantoms lost their second game to drop their record to 2-7-0 in their last nine games. Adirondack is looking for a pair of wins in the upcoming week, as they play the team they beat this week twice on the road. With a trio of losses this week, the Adirondack Phantoms extended their losing streak to five games. Over their five-game losing streak, the Phantoms have been out scored 20-7, as the team has suffered two four-goal losses. The Phantoms hope the AHL’s All-Star break will end their misery as of late, as they have a three-game home stand over the next several days. For their third straight loss, the Phantoms dropped a 5-1 decision at the Verizon Wireless Arena to the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate) on Wednesday night. The Adirondack Phantoms could only notch one win this week despite taking part in four contests, as they went 1-1-0 at home and 0-2-0 on the road. The one win and three losses this week moved the Phantoms to 4-5-0 for the month of January, while they are two points out of first place in the Northeast Division with a game in hand on the division leading Connecticut Whale (New York Rangers’ AHL affiliate). The Adirondack Phantoms may have lost two of their three games this week, but their lone win will be their most memorable victory all season long. After yet another loss to the Binghamton Senators (the Ottawa Senators’ AHL affiliate), the Phantoms split a home-and-home with the Hershey Bears (the Washington Capitals’ AHL affiliate) providing a dramatic win that took place at the AHL’s outdoor game on Friday.
