Atlantic Watch: 4/4-4/10

The Flyers finished their 2011-12 regular season with a pair of games that didn’t have any kind of effect on the standings, as they beat the Buffalo Sabres and lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s those same Penguins that the Flyers will play in the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which starts tonight. Philly’s final home game of the regular season was also their final win, as they beat the visiting Sabres 2-1 on Thursday night. Ville Leino may have had a disappointing year, but he recorded his eighth of the year and second against the Flyers in the second period …

Atlantic Watch: 1/25-1/31

In their only game this week, the Flyers took part in yet another shootout. Unfortunately for Philly, it was unable to pull out a win. The Flyers look forward to a difficult week ahead, as three of their four opponents are currently in the playoff picture. For a third time this season, the Flyers lost to the Winnipeg Jets. This time, however, the game was very defensive, as the Jets picked up a 2-1 shootout win in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. Chris …

The Flyers were constantly getting the puck deep through two periods of play and were relentless on the forecheck, out hitting and outshooting the Red Wings 22-18 and 32-27 respectively. The Flyers eventually pounded in three goals on Jimmy Howard …

Flight Plan Week of 01.02.2011

The Philadelphia Flyers had a week that has been pretty uncharacteristic of this team through the 2010 part of the 2010-2011 Season as they’ve allowed a ton of goals. In just three games, they allowed 15 of their total 102 goals against. Part of that can be contributed to the fact that one of their top four defensemen is out as Chris Pronger has a broken foot, and part of it can be contributed to Michael Leighton making his first start and shaking off some of the obvious rust he’s accumulated by missing much of the preseason and all of …
