Detroit’s power play hurts Flyers, Philly loses 5-2

The Philadelphia Flyers lost for the fifth time this season tonight in Detroit, as they lost to the Red Wings by the count of 5-2. Niklas Kronwall had a goal and two assists and Henrik Zetterberg had two goals and one assist, while Daniel Alfredsson had three helpers in the win for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 32 shots for the win, while his team produced three goals on the power play. The Flyers finished their 2011-12 regular season with a pair of games that didn’t have any kind of effect on the standings, as they beat the Buffalo Sabres and lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s those same Penguins that the Flyers will play in the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which starts tonight.
