Five Questions: Rebuilding the Phantoms and Titans

Flyers Faithful revisited a former recurring feature, Five Questions, to address some current hot and important topics, including the draft, prospects, and the future of the Flyers. For this edition of Five Questions, we asked John Saquella, Jim Butler, James Centifonti, Joshua Janet, and our very own Jared Abbott to participate. Below, you will find their answers to today’s question. The organization has failed to produce winning clubs at the AHL and ECHL levels in recent years. With your GM cap still on, how do you go about fixing that? Is it even a big deal? John Saquella: Winning at …

Holmstrom’s loss a serious one. So now what?

After covering the Phantoms for three years, I thought I had a pretty good idea of how they go about their business. But the organization surprised me Thursday by issuing a statement addressing Ben Holmstrom’s knee injury and upcoming surgery. I can’t speak for the Philadelphia years, but that’s an unprecedented step since the move to Glens Falls in 2009. Paterson out as Phantoms head coach

Unexpected news arrived late this afternoon, revealing that Phantoms head coach Joe Paterson has been relieved from his duties as head coach after less than two seasons at the helm. “As an organization, we feel the Phantoms need a new voice moving forward,” Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said in a brief statement issued on the club’s web site.  “We would like to thank Joe for his hard work and service to the Phantoms over the past season and a half, but we feel a new direction is needed at this time.” Paterson, who took over in late December of 2010, …

Phantoms Q&A with Tim McManus

Flyers Faithful would like to thank Tim McManus for taking time out of his busy schedule once again to provide insight on the Adirondack Phantoms. We are eternally grateful for all of the help he has given to us. Flyers Faithful: Last season the Phantoms finished 13th in the conference with a .450 win percentage. This season, they’re 12th but have a .524 win percentage and are only 3 points out of a playoff spot with some games in hand over teams above them and 2 points out of first in the division. Are theymbetter than their standing suggest or …

Phantoms retain Paterson as head coach

Glens Falls, NY – Today the Adirondack Phantoms, in collaboration with their NHL Affiliate Philadelphia Flyers, proudly announce that Joe Paterson has been hired as the team’s Head Coach. Paterson returns behind the bench after taking over the coaching duties on an interim basis on December 20th of last season. His record of 25-16-2-6 was near the top in the AHL during that period of time. “It goes without saying; we were pleased with the results of the hockey team as the season progressed. Joe was able to pass on his passion and knowledge of the game to the players …
