The morning after: Flyers @ Penguins 10.07.10
“The morning after” is a review of the previous night’s Flyers’ game which, in theory, provides a more objective perspective on the game. The Flyers have been gambling with their goaltenders for years. So, it really shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the team decided to roll the dice and put Sergei Bobrovsky, their untested goalie prospect, in net last night against one of the most elite teams in the East, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bobrovsky played well throughout camp and likely won the start over Brian Boucher when he played soundly in relief of Johan Backlund in a …
The morning after: Flyers @ Sabres 10.03.10
“The morning after” is a review of the previous night’s Flyers’ game which, in theory, provides a more objective perspective on the game. Overall, last night’s 9-3 loss against the Buffalo Sabres was a forgettable one but there is no reason to be worried. The Flyers only dressed a handful of players who will be on the opening night roster. Bill Guerin played his last unimpressive game of the preseason and, quite possibly, in a Flyers uniform. The local media was unanimously doubtful that Guerin would be offered a contract. Frank Seravalli hints that Andreas Nodl may make the team. …

The team faced off against the New York Islanders, who were playing their first game of the preseason. This was an expected win for the Flyers, as the Islanders dressed many of their prospects. Perhaps the biggest story of the night was that Ville Leino, Blair Betts, and Johan Backlund returned …
