For a franchise that is known and loved for their pugilistic dominance, it’s not surprising that one of the team’s favorite players amongst the fans is a fourth-line pest that always picks on somebody bigger than him. Winning the Gene Hart Memorial Award, helping to put one of the league’s best power plays on the ice, and leaving the goal scorers in a favorable position to start their shift is a good summary of Zac Rinaldo’s season. Rask Blanks Flyers in Boston, Philly Loses Third Straight

The Philadelphia Flyers played as well, if not better, than Boston for most of today’s game, but let things get away from them during a brief span in the first period to let the Bruins grab a 3-0 win. Tuukka Rask stopped all 23 shots from the Flyers for his second shutout of the year, as the trio of Tyler Seguin, Chris Kelly, and Daniel Paille beat Ilya Bryzgalov in a span of 2:18. The Philadelphia Flyers seem to heading in the right direction after they recorded wins in their last two games. After they lost both the game and a crucial player on Friday, the Orange and Black pulled off back-to-back wins in their last two contests. The Flyers start a four-game week tomorrow, as they finish the seven-day stretch with a pair of games that start a lengthy road trip. On Friday, the Washington Capitals handed Philly a 3-2 loss at the Verizon Center. Simmonds Hurt in Flyers’ Third Straight Loss

The Philadelphia Flyers dropped their third straight game on Friday night in Washington against the Capitals by the score of 3-2. Wojtek Wolski had the eventual game-winner for the Caps, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in the victory. Braden Holtby had 31 saves for Washington, as the only two Flyers to beat him on the night were Bruno Gervais and Brayden Schenn. What do Chris Pronger, Kimmo Timonen, and Janne Niinimaa all have in common? They were all drafted in the 1993 NHL Entry draft. How many were drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers? Only Janne Niinimaa. Pronger went second, to the Hartford Whalers, while Timonen could be considered the hidden gem of the draft going 250nd to the Los Angeles Kings.
