Sports are an amazing thing. Games, and the athletic culture which wraps around society as part of the 24-hour news cycle, are needed in a variety of ways. This was all too obvious over the past couple of weeks. First off, kudos to everyone who covered the draft live last night. People may joke every time a tweet pops up about a GM working the phones but those reporters worked their butts off last night. In their only game this week, the Flyers took part in yet another shootout. Unfortunately for Philly, it was unable to pull out a win. The Orange and Black did, however, keep up with the Rangers, who also lost in a shootout this week. The Flyers look forward to a difficult week ahead, as three of their four opponents are currently in the playoff picture. For a third time this season, the Flyers lost to the Winnipeg Jets. Returning to Phoenix for the first time since testing the free-agent market and signing with Philly this past Summer, Ilya Bryzgalov handed his former teammates a 4-2 loss — saving 36 shots in the process. Claude Giroux had another game-winner as both Matt Read (who totaled three points in a four-goal first period) and Scott Hartnell provided goals on the power play. Despite being outshot 38-30, the Flyers won their second game in as many days to help Bryzgalov shut up his former Phoenix buddies.
