Frequent Flyer Miles: Nodl to play in Switzerland, Potulny’s injury results in departure from KHL

We are now at the point of the offseason where the biggest news related to former Philadelphia Flyers has reached Andreas Nodl signing in Switzerland and Ryan Potulny being released from a KHL squad. The list of players who were once linked to the Orange and Black and endured transactions this week is still rather long, but Nodl and Potulny are the only two who actually played a game for the Flyers. Nodl, who spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes’ organization and HC Innsbruck in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga during the lockout, has signed with Lausanne HC in …

Frequent Flyer Miles: Bryzgalov to train in Sweden, Foster leaves for KHL, O’Donnell joins Kings’ management

As usual, several former members of the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization and draft picks moved this week, as four of the players suited up for the Orange and Black in recent seasons. The group of Ilya Bryzgalov, Kurtis Foster, Sean O’Donnell, and Nikolay Zherdev earned new titles within the last seven days. The most intriguing news since last Wednesday may be Bryzgalov’s move, as he will train with Erik Granqvist, who is a coach for Farjestad in the SHL. The move is said to be for training, despite the fact many think Brzygalov will eventually find a spot on Farjestad’s roster …

Frequent Flyer Miles: Boucher leaves for Switzerland, Carcillo to Los Angeles, Gawryletz joins Hungarian club

Another week in the offseason just means more former Philadelphia Flyers on the move, as 10 former players or draft picks changed franchises or leagues. The most notable former Flyer to switch clubs may have been the return of one of the Orange and Black’s most popular goaltenders returning to the team’s front office, but I’ll digress. Along with Ron Hextall’s return to Philly, the biggest names to move were Brian Boucher, Daniel Carcillo, and Nikolay Zherdev. Boosh will join his second club that isn’t based in North America, and his first during a season that doesn’t involve an NHL …

Frequent Flyer Miles: Emery returns to Flyers, Briere joins Canadiens, Radivojevic switches KHL teams

Several former Philadelphia Flyers switched clubs this week, including a few that will return to the Flyers’ organization. The most notable former Flyer returning to Philly is goaltender Ray Emery. Emery, who returned to the NHL with the help of the Flyers in the 2009-2010 season, recently went 17-1-0 with a .922 save percentage and a 1.94 GAA with the Chicago Blackhawks. After being paid $1.15 million last year with Chicago, Emery will receive $1.65 million on a one-year deal with the Flyers and a chance to serve as the team’s starting netminder, as both he and Steve Mason will …
