The Philadelphia Flyers were the only team in the Atlantic Division not to win a game this week, as they went 0-1-1 against the Pens and Rangers. Things don’t get any easier for the Flyers over the next week, as they take on a division leader and two teams fighting to make the postseason. After a six-day break, the Flyers dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the CONSOL Energy Center on Sunday. The Philadelphia Flyers started the week with a pair of wins, but a pair of lackadaisical efforts led to two losses where they were outscored 7-2. The Orange and Black find themselves at the bottom of the division with a trio of meetings against Southeast Division opponents over the next seven days. Tye McGinn made his NHL debut on Tuesday night, as his first four games with the Philadelphia Flyers were impressive. Not only did the forward knock around Kris Newbury in his second game, McGinn registered his first goal in the NHL in the first period of Philly’s 7-1 rout of the Florida Panthers on Saturday. On top of that, McGinn has six hits in his first four contests with the Flyers. Unfortunately for Eric Wellwood, McGinn’s success at the highest level helped cause him to be moved down to the Adirondack Phantoms. After a painful 3 1/2 months, the NHL will finally return to action this weekend. That being said, the schedule is much shorter, which makes every game that much more important. The Flyers won two of their three games this week, as they finished the week by handling the free-falling Minnesota Wild. After Sergei Bobrovsky earned the start on Thursday night on Long Island, Ilya Bryzgalov got the call for the last two games of the week making 46 saves on 50 shots against.
