Flight Plan: Buckle Up and Buckle Down

Last week was a rough week. The Philadelphia Flyers lost a game in which they carried a 2-0 lead into the third period over the Anaheim Ducks, became the laughing stock of the entire NHL in a game against the Washington Capitals when they were blown out by a score of 7-0, and won a game 1-0 against the New Jersey Devils. I’d like to touch on the events of November 1st. This team needed something. I’m not of the school of thought that fighting in hockey is a bad thing. Flight Plan: Taking Off

The Philadelphia Flyers have now won two games in a row, both against divisional rivals in the New York Rangers and New York Islanders, and have finally lit the lamp more than two times in one game. More importantly perhaps, the team is finally healthy as Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier have both returned from injury. Lecavalier now has four goals and six points on the season, three of which came yesterday as he skated for the second game in a row with captain Claude Giroux and rookie Michael Raffl. Jakub Voracek is starting to look a little bit more …

Metropolitan Division Preview: New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers do not like each. This rivalry started on the elbows of Scott Stevens and has continued ever since. And now we find ourselves at this point. The Devils find themselves heading into the 2013-14 season- I’m sorry, I can’t contain it anymore. I need to get this out. KOVALCHUK RETIRED! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA The Devils’ best player and only real scoring threat just went and retired on them. Just like that. He decided that home is where the heart is (as well as the government sanctioned homophobia). But let’s be serious for a second. …
