Stamkos and Lindback help Bolts edge Flyers in Tampa Bay

The Philadelphia Flyers lost another pivotal game tonight in Tampa Bay, as the Lightning handed the visitors a 4-2 loss. Teddy Purcell deposited the game-winner halfway through the third period, while Steven Stamkos recorded his 200th goal in the NHL in a two-point effort. Max Talbot and Claude Giroux were the only Flyers to beat Anders Lindback, as Tampa Bay’s goaltender made 28 stops for the victory. With the tilt tied at two midway through the third period, Purcell tipped home his sixth of 2013 to hand the Lightning two points tonight in Tampa Bay. Stamkos managed to grab a …

A Look on the Flyers Bright Side (and not so bright side): Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds, Couturier and more over the last 10 games

Sigh, the Flyers. I could probably end this right here and have summed up the feelings of thousands of Flyers fans. There have been a few bright spots in this otherwise dim, dreary season for our Flyers. It’s hard to put your finger on just one thing that is wrong with this season, but to be honest there’s only a couple of things going right, so naturally they are easy to point out. The Flyers continue their road trip with three of their six games away from the Wells Fargo Center coming in the next seven days. Philadelphia had a lead after 40 minutes on Thursday, but they only came away …

While they had discussions with both, the pursuit of Ryan Suter, Zach Parise, and Shea Weber at various times all contributed to the two ultimately accepting attractive deals with the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning respectively. Additionally, James Van Riemsdyk was shipped to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Luke Schenn in an attempt to strengthen the blue line. After 11 games, you can make the case that the Flyers could really use all three of these players; but which is …

What did Matt Carle ever do to you?

Boo… Who?

Booing is a huge part of sports, right up there with cheering. You cheer for the players and the plays you love, and you boo for everything you hate. The refs, the calls, the players on the opposing team, all of the things you disagree with. It comes with the territory of being a sports fan. But as I took in the Flyers/Lightning game this past Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center, I found myself wondering why Flyers fans booed Matt Carle — not only when he first took the ice, but a few times throughout the game when he …
