Flyers Hang On For 3-2 Win
The Flyers won 3-2 against the Rangers tonight, but it didn’t end gracefully. After going up 3-0 less than five minutes into the second period, the Flyers wouldn’t score for the remainder of the game. It seemed as though the Flyers would skate out the clock after a couple minutes were played in the third, but the Rangers had different plans. Brian Boucher allowed a soft Wojtek Wolski goal and a hungry Rangers team capitalized on the momentum scoring less than 3 minutes later to make it a one-goal game. The holiday season is upon us and, while stockpiling items on our Amazon wish lists, we decided to come up with our own list of things we would want for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011. Here are our top 10 wishes, minus the most obvious one (a Stanley Cup championship): 10. Cap relief The Flyers have zero need for Matt Walker. They never did. Mixed Bag is an infrequent column that features a collection of opinions and observations about the Flyers. In the grand scheme of things, two games makes for a small sample size. There’s no reason to make any significant changes at this point or even begin to declare that some things may or may not be working well. “The morning after” is a review of the previous night’s Flyers’ game which, in theory, provides a more objective perspective on the game. Well, that was the most entertaining game of the preseason. Brian Boucher looked good in net tonight, outdeuling Ryan Miller to a 3-1 Flyers victory. I realize that none of us has the inside knowledge of the game, or the experience of an NHL general manager, but I have a couple questions that need to be answered. What would you do if you knew there was a free agent forward, already deemed expendable by his club before the season concludes, who has won two Stanley Cups and will most likely be playing for his final contract?
