I actually touched on the topic of one-way versus two-way contracts in my very first CBA 101 article about waivers and re-entry waivers. Flyers re-sign Leighton

The Flyers have made it official, re-signing goaltender Michael Leighton to back up Ilya Bryzgalov on Sunday afternoon. The deal is for one year, $900k. Many players will be remembered for their leadership, whether or not they could perform in the clutch, or if there were unique aspects to their game. In judging Ilya Bryzgalov’s, um… interesting (?) job in net so far through this playoff run, I ran across the assessment of “I’d rank him Leighton” (h/t to our own Jim Hasson). The Adirondack Phantoms finished 10th in the Eastern Conference for the 2011-2012 regular season, as the club missed a playoff berth by five points.
