The Philadelphia Flyers lost their first two games this week to stretch their losing streak to three games before they edged out the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday for a pair of points. Both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Buffalo Sabres entered tonight’s game at the Wells Fargo Center on three-game losing streaks, but the hosts were able to grab a 3-2 victory to end their skid. Claude Giroux had the game-winning goal just 17 seconds into the second period and Kimmo Timonen had two helpers in the win, while Ilya Bryzgalov had 17 stops for the decision. The Philadelphia Flyers won a pair of exciting contests this week, but they also lost two games where they could have easily grabbed points. Scott Hartnell recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 24 shots in the Flyers’ 4-3 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. Brayden Schenn scored his sixth goal of the season late in the second period for his first game-winning goal in the NHL, as the Flyers ended their season-high three-game losing streak. Max Talbot and Claude Giroux were the other two Flyers to score in the second period.
