The Philadelphia Flyers were able to extend their point streak to four games this week, as they earned a shootout loss to the Florida Panthers and an overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Although they were dominated in Toronto, the Orange and Black did a good job of rebounding to earn their second road win of the year last night in Winnipeg. The Flyers continue their road trip with three of their six games away from the Wells Fargo Center coming in the next seven days. After a four game home stand which saw them earn seven of a possible eight points, the Philadelphia Flyers start a five game road trip Monday night. This week, the Flyers’ schedule has them doubled up on back-to-backs as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Winnipeg Jets, the New Jersey Devils, and the Montreal Canadiens. As of right now, Philadelphia is sitting in 10th place, and is looking up at every single one of their opponents in the standings over the seven-day stretch. Simmonds Hurt in Flyers’ Third Straight Loss

The Philadelphia Flyers dropped their third straight game on Friday night in Washington against the Capitals by the score of 3-2. Wojtek Wolski had the eventual game-winner for the Caps, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in the victory. Braden Holtby had 31 saves for Washington, as the only two Flyers to beat him on the night were Bruno Gervais and Brayden Schenn. The Philadelphia Flyers started the week with a pair of wins, but a pair of lackadaisical efforts led to two losses where they were outscored 7-2. The Orange and Black find themselves at the bottom of the division with a trio of meetings against Southeast Division opponents over the next seven days. The Trenton Titans saw their five-game win streak and their seven-game point streak snapped this week, as the squad lost a pair of games to the Conference-leading Reading Royals. Although the Titans managed to eke out an overtime victory last Thursday against their division rival, Trenton lost back-to-back contests to Reading on Friday and Saturday to suffer consecutive losses for the first time since December 8-9.
