Flight Plan: Looking Upward and Onward

The Philadelphia Flyers won two of their three games last week. Their wins came against the New Jersey Devils in overtime and the Montreal Canadiens in regulation. Yesterday, the team lost a due to a sub-par defensive effort, an unusually poor outing from goaltender Steve Mason, and some inexperience on coach Craig Berube’s part. Every player will have an off day here and there, every team will get away from their system from time to time, and every coach will fail to get his guys to turn things around after a bad couple of minutes sometimes. Yesterday was a perfect …

I think all of us can agree that Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings is a pretty good goaltender, maybe even one of the best ever when he’s on like he was in the 2011-2012 season where he won both the Conn Smythe award as the most valuable player to his team in the playoffs and a Stanley Cup. However, the guy is human. (really, I promise he is). …

Hockey Hilarity: Wait For It…

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Morning everyone! Even though the Philadelphia Flyers lost their first game of the season, everyone’s gotta be pumped that hockey is back and started on time this year, right? Well, I mean, relatively on time. These opening ceremonies are getting a little out of hand, and in Canada, there’s no question that it’s worse. Even the Toronto based @TheScore had something to say about the Montreal Canadiens‘ opening night festivities: The …
