Earlier this week the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization signed Kyle Flanagan, a forward that recently completed his senior year at St. Lawrence University, to a one-year entry-level contract. The 24-year-old, who finished second on St. Lawrence’s squad with 47 points in 35 games and was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, will join the Adirondack Phantoms on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the 2012-2013 regular season. In his first two games with Adirondack Flanagan had two helpers. In the ECHL, forward Shane Harper had a weekend to remember, as he helped the Trenton Titans go 3-0-0 while …

Kennedy scores winner in overtime, Flyers lose 2-1 in Pittsburgh

Unfortunately for the Philadelphia Flyers they couldn’t continue their annual tradition of ending a lengthy Pittsburgh Penguins’ winning streak, as the Pens squeaked out a 2-1 overtime win at the CONSOL Energy Center tonight. Tyler Kennedy’s fifth goal of this shortened season beat Ilya Bryzgalov 2:33 into overtime, as Pittsburgh extended their winning streak to 12 games. Claude Giroux was the lone Flyer to beat Marc-Andre Fleury in the loss, while Sidney Crosby took advantage off a 5-on-3 power play late in the contest to send it past regulation. Fleury had 27 saves to Bryzgalov’s 33 to earn the win this …

Poll: What should the Flyers do at the trade deadline?

With the trade deadline quickly approaching on April 3, the Flyers will have some decisions to make. Whether or not they think they can make the playoffs will dictate whether they “buy” or “sell”. Should they try to acquire a talented player that can be a benefit for years to come (think Byfuglien)? Should they make a strong playoff push and acquire a talented (but possibly expiring) veteran (think Morrow or Iginla)? Should they “sell” some of their own lesser pieces (think Talbot or Fedotenko)? Or should they do nothing at all?
