In what’s been the busiest week in terms of movement since the beginning of the Frequent Flyer Miles column, a laundry list of former Philadelphia Flyers and draft picks, Adirondack Phantoms, and Trenton Titans changed clubs, signed extensions, or were involved in rumors. A handful of former Flyers were involved in transactions, as Brian Boucher, Vinny Prospal, David Laliberte, and Nikolay Zherdev found themselves on the move. As the beginning of the NHL season nears, several former Philadelphia Flyers, draft picks of the team, and former members of the organization were involved in transactions this week. The biggest news might be the New York Rangers releasing Johan Hedberg, who was with the team on a Professional Try-Out. Hedberg, who was selected 218th overall by the Flyers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, has spent the last three seasons with the New Jersey Devils. Then and Now: Patrik Juhlin

The Philadelphia Flyers had 10 draft picks in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Of those 10 picks, only three players went on to play in the NHL. One of those picks was Greg Johnson, a center that took part in 785 NHL games, but none of them with the Flyers. Another was Reid Simpson, a left winger who played in one game for the Orange and Black. The third player was Patrik Juhlin, who competed in 56 games for Philadelphia. After playing in the SHL during the lockout in the 1994-1995 season, Juhlin participated in 42 games for the Flyers. …

Several of the moves involving former Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers’ draft picks this week relate to NHL training camps taking shape. In addition to a Professional Try-Out for Hal Gill, the drama surrounding Daniel Cleary, and an entry-level contract handed out to Taylor Leier, a pair of goaltenders once linked to the Orange and Black are involved with other NHL clubs. Then and Now: Randy Robitaille

After a 40-point campaign with the Minnesota Wild in 2005-2006, Randy Robitaille joined the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization in the summer of 2006. The now 37-year-old forward played all of 28 games with the Orange and Black before being dealt to a divisional rival. In his 28 games with Philly, Robitaille totaled five goals and 12 helpers. His first goal with the Flyers came against Johan Hedberg in a 3-2 shootout win over the Atlanta Thrashers on October 26th, 2006. His final goal in a Flyers’ sweater came on November 30th, as he beat Mike Dunham in a Philly 3-2 decision …
