Last year for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, Nick Cousins led the team with 103 points in 64 games while Brandon Alderson sat third on the team with 64 points in 67 games. After both players saw a handful of games with the Adirondack Phantoms last season, Cousins and Alderson haven’t quite produced the gaudy numbers they provided last year. After Samuel Morin and Scott Laughton had their turns to take on Team Russia in the Subway Super Series, it was time for Taylor Leier and Team WHL to battle. Team Russia won the first meeting last Wednesday by the score of 3-2, but Team WHL rebounded and won the final game in the series 4-2. Leier was plus-1 with a goal and an assist in Team WHL’s loss, while he was minus-1 with no points in the win. After taking part in his first game for Team QMJHL against Team Russia in the Subway Super Series, Samuel Morin suited up for his second contest last Wednesday, which was a 4-3 victory for Team QMJHL. Despite not recording a point in the win, Morin was plus-3 with a pair of penalty minutes. In both contests for Team QMJHL, Morin had zero points and four PIMs with a plus-3 rating. He won’t be in Happy Valley until the fall of 2016, but ’97 born defenseman Kris Myllari has the potential be a huge pick-up for Guy Gadowsky and the Nittany Lions. Myllari played with the prestigious Ottawa Senators Midget AAA program last year and had 25 points in 29 games played.
