Flyers face decisions with crowded blueline…again

So I sit down to begin this article, and I write the headline “Flyers face decisions with crowded blueline” and then I think to myself… “wait, didn’t I write something similar last summer”. Of course I go take a look and, sure enough, I did. I wrote almost the same exact article last summer that I am about to begin now. It’s the same story, with different players, and some slightly different circumstances. The major difference is timing. Last summer I wrote the article after the Flyers had made their defensive acquisitions. They knew who they had and it was just …

The Flyers Season In Review: The Good

The Flyers season is over. We fans went on a long ride through a short amount of time. 48 games in fewer than 100 days. Blood, sweat, tears, injuries and fatigue plagued this 2013 Flyers team from the start of the season. But, let’s not forget, the Flyers gave us plenty of memories from this year. Here is my three-part season in review looking back at the Good, the bad, and the Ugly. The Good: Jakub Voracek Steps Out: In similar fashion to Scott Hartnell the year before, Voracek started slowly, but finished the season strong. Voracek coming off a …

Hockey Hilarity: Oliver Lauridsen, from Anton Khudobin and Zdeno Chara?

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Hopefully everyone watched the Philadelphia Flyers-Boston Bruins game this past week. It was a good game, there was a wonderful opening ceremony before puck drop, a lot of money was raised at the game for victims of the Boston Marathon via the 50/50 drawing, and the Flyers won! Surprised? Me too. Everyone was in a giving mood that night as Oliver Lauridsen treated fans to his first NHL goal, with some …

A Rookie & A Vet Propel Flyers to 2-1 Win Over Islanders

On Tuesday night, Oliver Lauridsen’s first NHL goal came courtesy of a huge mistake made by Boston’s Zdeno Chara. This time, Lauridsen’s goal was all his own as he notched the game winner in a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders. Ilya Bryzgalov got the win for the Flyers making 21 saves. Kevin Poulin took the loss for the Islanders making 28 saves of his own. After a lackluster second and third period that left the score stagnant at 1-1 for over thirty minutes, Lauridsen scored at 13:29 of the third to breathe some life into the game. For …

Brodeur stopped 23 shots from the Flyers to end the Devils’ 10-game losing streak, while the trio of Ryan Carter, Matt D’Agostini, and Adam Henrique scored in Jersey’s …
