Harper, Cepis help Titans dominate Nailers for second straight day

It was fan appreciation night at the Sun National Bank Center last night and the Trenton Titans showed their appreciation by putting a 7-2 shellacking on the Wheeling Nailers. Shane Harper recorded his second hat trick in as many days on his way to a five-point game, as Jacob Cepis posted four assists in a six-point performance for the Titans’ second blowout win in a 48-hour span over the Nailers. Blake Kessel also had a big night for the hosts, as he had a trio of assists. “They’re going in for me right now,” Harper said after the win. “I feel …

Titans blanked 4-0 by Cyclones

Just when the Trenton Titans seemed to be heading in the right direction, the Cincinnati Cyclones made a visit to the Sun National Bank Center and hand the Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate a 4-0 loss on Saturday. Garrett Wilson had a two-goal game for Cincinnati, while former Trenton Devil Dan Eves and Mike Embach had two-assist games to end the Cyclones’ three-game losing streak. Michael Houser posted a 33-save shutout to end Trenton’s brief two-game winning streak. After an overtime win on Wednesday and an 8-5 victory last night, the Titans suffered their first loss since they concluded their seven-game losing streak. One night …

Alvarez Leaves for Ft. Benning, Titans Lose Seventh Straight

The Trenton Titans lost their seventh straight last night at the hands of the visiting South Carolina Stingrays on Military Appreciation Night at Sun National Bank Center. Marcel Alvarez and his teammates couldn’t do enough to beat Jeff Jakaitis and his shot-blocking partners, as Trenton saw the goaltender stop 32 of the 33 shots they threw at him. Scott Wedgewood had 16 saves on 19 shots, as three players who participated in the loss last night won’t be on the team today. The story of the night was Alvarez. On a night dedicated to 2nd Lieutenant Alvarez, the blue liner …

Trenton Update: 1/4-1/10

The Trenton Titans’ two-game skid turned into a five-game losing streak this week, as the squad dropped all three games on their schedule with a record of 0-2-1. Just as the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate gained a lot of ground in the Eastern Conference with a winning streak a few weeks ago, the team dropped right out of the playoff picture with a losing streak, as Trenton sits 12th in the conference at the moment. A pair of tilts against a team three points ahead of them in the East and a contest against the team leading their division give the …

Trenton Update: 12/21-12/27

All that separates the Toledo Walleye, the team sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, and the Evansville IceMen, who sit last in the Eastern Conference, is 10 points. With that being said, a team that was in the Trenton Titans’ position of being out of the playoff picture can quickly change with a string of wins. Over the last two weeks, that’s exactly what the Titans have done to move from the bottom of the conference to seventh in the East. Hopefully Trenton can keep the momentum going this weekend, as they take part in a home-and-home with the dreaded Reading …

Trenton Update: 12/14-12/20

The Trenton Titans started to climb out of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference cellar this week by winning three of their four contests. In addition to the six points they gained in their three victories, the Titans earned a point in their only loss this week, which came in an overtime defeat at home. Trenton also showcased their offensive abilities by scoring 18 goals over the four-game span, as they potted at least four goals in each tilt. The Titans look for more points this week when they take on the team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, a team …

Trenton Update: 12/7-12/13

Although the Trenton Titans lost all three of their games this weekend to extend their losing streak to four, they managed to pick up a pair of points to gain a little ground in the standings. The Titans have only won one of their last seven contents, as their lone victory came in a high-scoring shootout. With seven losses in their last nine games, Trenton hopes a four-game homestand this week starts to point them in a positive direction. The Titans dropped their first contest last weekend at the North Charleston Coliseum by a score of 3-2 in overtime on …

Trenton Update: 10/19-10/25

The Trenton Titans suffered their first loss of the season last weekend, but they’re still ranked near the top of the ECHL standings early in the season. The Titans were able to start off the season 4-0-0 before they recorded their first loss in Cincinnati on Saturday night. Trenton hopes a pair of home games against the Toledo Walleye this weekend will allow them to gain ground in the division, conference, and league. On Friday night, the Titans walked into the Ford Center and left with a 4-3 victory over the Evansville IceMen, an affiliate for both the St. Louis Blues and Columbus Blue Jackets. Luke Pither’s …
