Point/Counterpoint: Development vs. “Win Now”

Welcome to the newest edition of “Point/Counterpoint,” where a pair of Flyers Faithful scribes present both sides of one particular issue with their own unique view and flair. This week, Nick D and Bob H square off again over the matter of whether the Flyers should keep the pressure on and try to win it all in a short time span, or take the long road and develop from within. First up, Bob H… Kevin Marshall was done wrong. Under the guise of breaking up a “logjam” on the defensive front, he was dealt from Adirondack to Hershey for a …

Minor League Update: 12/11-12/17

The Adirondack Phantoms lost their first game of the week before winning last night to make their record 3-3-1 in the month of December. Since their four-game winning streak was snapped at the beginning of the month, the Phantoms two wins in their last six games have both been one-goal victories. With Christmas taking place next weekend, the Phantoms play today and Wednesday while not playing on Saturday for only the second time all season. In their first game of the week, the Phantoms lost on the road 3-1 to the Binghamton Senators (the Ottawa Senators’ AHL affiliate). Rob Klinkhammer potted …

Is Paul Holmgren still the right man for the job?

Paul Holmgren is a bold man, sure of what he wants and unflinching in his actions. He is willing to pay extra to beat the surge of activity to get his man. That ultimately-failed course has been run, and the team did not win the Cup, yet again, and it is now …

The morning after: Flyers vs. Hurricanes 11.1.10

“The morning after” is a review of the previous night’s Flyers’ game which, in theory, provides a more objective perspective on the game. It was nice to come home after a long weekend away to see a dominant Flyers’ team earn their fourth straight win. There’s no reason this streak shouldn’t span over the next two games either. I was out of town for the two previous games and unable to watch them. So, I apologize if I missed any connections. Since this post is very late and there are countless other articles on last night’s game already, I’m going …

North American Prospect Weekly Report (10/18 – 10/24)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America. Forwards: Patrick Maroon continues his goal scoring prowess this week as he registered his 5th goal in 9 games this season. Eric Wellwood scored his 3rd of the season to become the Phantoms 2nd leading goal scorer. Outside of those two, it was a pretty pitiful week for Phantoms prospects who managed to score a grand total of 4 goals in 3 games this week. In junior action Brendan Ranford potted 2 more goals to bring his total to 12 …
