Future Flyers Report: Laughton’s big week, Leier to play in Super Series, Lauridsen update

The Philadelphia Flyers may be struggling to produce points at the moment, but the franchise’s top prospect isn’t. Scott Laughton is currently averaging two points per game in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, as he has been looking like a man amongst boys. After he scored a goal against the Kingston Frontenacs on Saturday, Laughton provided a five-point performance on Sunday in a 5-3 win for the Generals over the Peterborough Petes. The forward recorded three assists, but he also had a pair of goals, one of which was highlight reel material. Thanks to Daniel Malta Last night, Laughton …

Future Flyers Report: Laughton and Leier lead the way in offensive production

The pair of Scott Laughton and Taylor Leier have played the most games out of any of the Philadelphia Flyers’ prospects, and they are averaging over a point per game in the process. Ironically for both players, neither of them lead their junior teams in scoring. Laughton has 11 goals and eight helpers in the Oshawa Generals’ first 11 games this season. The forward sits third on the Generals in scoring, as the pair of Michael Dal Colle, who has 23 points, and Josh Sterk, who has 20 points, sit in front of him. Flyers Faithful is pleased to have Dave Isaac from the Courier-Post, Matt Brigidi from SB Nation, David Strehle from The Fourth Period, Anthony Mingioni from Center Ice Philly, and our very own Steve Jacot participate in the current iteration of Five Questions. Could there be a dark horse coming from the KHL to fill a last-minute roster spot? Dave Isaac: That would be shocking. The team is already over the …

Ranking the Flyers’ Prospects: Forwards

The Philadelphia Flyers prospect pool is considered one of the weakest in all of the NHL mainly because of their lack of an NHL top 50 prospect. Personally, I was not impressed with their draft back in June and I honestly think they missed out on some players who will be stars at the next level. Despite that, Philadelphia does possess an abundance of gritty and physical forwards. Players like Jason Akeson, Petr Straka, and Tye McGinn come to mind.  However, they lack elite/top tier talent at forward. Scott Laughton and Tye McGinn are the most NHL ready prospects in …

Flyers draft day predictions

We are at a point in time where we can start counting down hours until the draft but there’s still plenty of time for things to happen between now and when Mr. Irrelevant gets picked. So, let’s take a stab at what happens between now and then in what may be the most unpredictable draft day in years. (Keep in mind that this is just for fun and I have about as much of a chance of being right as I do of winning the lottery.) The Flyers have been linked to Pittsburgh defenseman, Kris Letang, who allegedly has Philadelphia …
