Flyers Faithful is pleased to have Adam Kimelman from NHL.com, Mark Edwards from HockeyProspect.com, Chris Shafer from Hockey’s Future, Todd Cordell from The Hockey Guys and HockeyBuzz and our very own Jared Abbott participate in the current iteration of Five Questions. This is the second of a five part series focusing on the upcoming draft. Last year the Flyers picked up defenseman Valeri Vasiliev in the 7th round and he was considered one of the dark horse picks of the whole draft. What sleeper picks might there be in this draft that could fill this role?  Adam Kimelman:  With the draft this deep — there could be top-end players …

A look at the goaltending market this offseason

With the trade of Jonathan Bernier to the Toronto Maple Leafs the Flyers lost out on a goaltender that I am personally a very big fan of. I think that Bernier is the real deal, and I would have loved to have been able to acquire him. Naturally, if that acquisition were to have happened, an Ilya Bryzgalov compliance buyout would have been inevitable. I am in favor of buying out Bryzgalov simply because of his contract. That name is none other than Anaheim Ducks forward, and Cherry Hill native, Bobby Ryan. Bobby …

Holmgren: Briere’s gone

The inevitable has been confirmed. Danny Briere’s tenure with the Flyers will come to an end once the Stanley Cup Finals are over. A statement released by GM Paul Holmgren this afternoon is as follows: “I met with Danny last week and informed him of our decision to use a compliance buy out on his contract. This was a very difficult decision for us to make as Danny has been a very good player for us over the past six years. Danny came to our organization as a free agent in July of 2007 and has been a tremendous player, …
