To finish off 2011, the Adirondack Phantoms closed out their rough December with a 2-1-0 week. The Phantoms may have needed a shootout and overtime to pull off both of their victories, but the pair of wins improved the club’s record to 5-6-1 for the final month in the calender year. As they play a pair of road games this week, the Phantoms look to extend their current two-game winning streak. Jagr And Talbot Score In Return To Pittsburgh, Flyers Win 4-2
Jaromir Jagr saluted the crowd after his second-period goal, while Max Talbot provided the empty-netter as the Flyers walked into the CONSOL Energy Center on Thursday night and strolled out with a 4-2 win. Matt Read put home his 12th of the season late in the second period for the game-winner as Sergei Bobrovsky grabbed the victory with 24 saves. Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy scored for the Pens while Marc-Andre Fleury had 19 saves in the Pens’ second loss in December to the Flyers. To start the game, Staal needed only 44 seconds before he put home a goal to give the Pens an early 1-0 lead. …

For the first time since the middle of November, the Flyers went a week where they only earned two points as they went 1-2-0 in three road games. Although the Flyers had the help of Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn returning to the line-up, they managed to end the week with a pair of losses as they fell out of the top position in the division. The Phantoms continued to struggle in the month of December, losing both of their games this week to drop to 3-5-1 since the beginning of the month. With their first win being a 5-1 victory against the Norfolk Admirals (the Tampa Bay Lightning’s AHL affiliate) to conclude their four-game winning streak as they entered the month, the Phantoms’ last two victories have been one-goal victories. A Jumble (of thoughts)
It’s two days to Christmas. That’s insane. I just got my packages out in the mail yesterday. Yeah, I was way late this year. Wish my family and friends didn’t live so far away. The logistics when you’re a nomad like me. I thought today I would just do some quick reviews of much that’s been going on. Atlantic Watch: 12/14-12/20
The last two games for the Flyers haven’t been pretty, but there is good news related to the team’s point-leader. Claude Giroux is expected to make a return in the near future, the earliest being tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars, from his concussion. This is good news considering the status of Chris Pronger, who will not take part in another game at any point this season or for the playoffs. With his team going 2-2-0 in his absence, Giroux’s return will hopefully turn things around for the Orange and Black. As for Philly’s games this week, the Flyers extended their winning …
Final Call Part One
So it’s finals week at the school I teach at and today I just gave my very first objective/essay final. My brain is mush. I’m not exaggerating. I believe it is a cross between porridge and pudding. At this point in time, it looks like nothing can stop the Flyers. After winning their first two games in December last week, the Flyers went 4-0-0 this week winning a pair of games on the road and a pair of games at home. With their wins this week the Flyers are currently on a six-game winning streak, their first six-game winning streak since their undefeated run from October 26-November 6 early last season.
