Cal Heeter posted 40 saves and Adirondack tied its season record for fewest shots on goal, but the Phantoms pulled themselves together to post a 4-2 victory over the Portland Pirates on Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Trenton Titans’ losing streak reached seven games before they pulled off an overtime winner on Wednesday morning against the Reading Royals. The Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate only grabbed one point over the 0-6-1 stretch, as their last two wins have come in overtime against the Royals at Sun National Bank Center. The Titans will be in New York tonight before they travel home to host a pair of games against the leaders of the North Division. Many players will be remembered for their leadership, whether or not they could perform in the clutch, or if there were unique aspects to their game. For Eric Weinrich, he’ll most likely be remembered for a piece of equipment. The former Flyers’ defenseman that sported a yellow visor throughout his career went on to play for five different teams after his stay in Philly and is currently a scout for another NHL club. With one week left in the AHL regular season, the Phantoms find themselves within reach of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Adirondack sits in 10th with 76 points, which is one less than both the eighth place Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate) and ninth place Portland Pirates (Phoenix Coyotes).
