Hockey Hilarity: Phil Kenobi?

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Sunday night in Toronto, an incident occurred during a game, despite it being the preseason and not meaning a gosh darn thing, between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Training Camp Sprints: Depth up front a concern?

When Jake Voracek left last night’s game versus the New Jersey Devils in the second period with an upper-body injury, the Flyers were faced with the disastrous notion of losing a star before the season even started. April 15, 1986 was the exact date. Game 5 of the Patrick Division Semifinals against the underdog …

Simmonds statement on banana incident

On Friday morning, Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds issued a statement regarding an incident in Thursday night’s preseason game in London, Ontario. During Detroit’s 4-3 shootout victory, an unidentified fan at the John Labatt Centre threw a banana on the ice in Simmonds’ direction while he was attempting a shot in the round. “It was unfortunate that this incident happened but I am above this sort of stuff. This is something that is out of my control. Moving forward, this incident is something I will no longer comment on so I can just focus on playing hockey for the Philadelphia Flyers.” …
