Of the six draft picks the Philadelphia Flyers had in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, many fans know about Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg, and Tyrell Goulbourne. The hopes are that Morin and Hagg will be on the Flyers’ blue line for awhile starting in a few years, while Goulbourne is expected to be the second coming of Zac Rinaldo, whether that’s good news or bad news for the club. North American Hockey Roundup: Anthony Mantha is a stud; The Erie Otters are for real; Providence moves up in NCAA rankings

When the Detroit Red Wings selected Anthony Mantha with the 20th overall pick in this past year’s draft they got the best pure goal scorer in the 2013 draft class according to numerous scouts. He certainly has not disappointed so far this season with the Val-d’Or Foreurs of the QMJHL. Mantha currently leads the QMJHL in scoring with 18 goals and 33 points in 12 games played. Right now, he’s too good to play in the QMJHL. How he fell to #20 is crazy and is something I will never understand. He should be in the AHL with Grand Rapids, but since …

Frequent Flyer Miles: Leighton to the KHL, Fritsch will play in Italy, Amorosa commits to Providence College

The biggest news of the week, in terms of where former Philadelphia Flyers went, is Michael Leighton signing in the KHL. The former Flyer did not play a single game as a Columbus Blue Jacket in 2013, as he has joined Donbass Donetsk for the 2013-2014 campaign. Leighton didn’t play a single game for the Flyers in 2011-2012 and only appeared in one game during the 2013 shortened season.
