Six CHL free agents the Flyers should target

With the Ottawa Senators signing of Portland Winterhawks defensemen Troy Rutkowski the other day, and the Vancouver Canucks signing of Lake Superior State forward Kellan Lain, it got us here at Flyers Faithful thinking about who are some the top NCAA and junior hockey free agents available. Yesterday, Jared Abbott highlighted four NCAA free agents that could be a good fit for the Flyers. Today I’m taking a look at six Canadian Hockey League free agents that could be helpful for the Flyers and other NHL squads. I have profiled a forward and defenseman from both the Ontario Hockey League …

Draft Eligibles: Ryan Pulock (WHL)

Although it may be cold outside and the NHL has just begun it’s never too early to take a look at upcoming draft eligible players for the 2013 draft, which will be held up the turnpike in Newark. This week I’m taking a look at defenseman Ryan Pulock of the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings. In 43 games played thus far for Brandon, Pulock has 10 goals, 27 assists good for 37 points. He is also a plus 2 on the season. Pulock did miss two weeks in early January this year with bone chips in his wrist. That injury should …

Then and Now: David Laliberte

Ryan Callahan has played five seasons with the New York Rangers. Before the start of the 2011-2012 NHL campaign, Callahan was named the Rangers’ captain, an honor he holds at the moment as well. His first season as captain of New York was also his first 50-point year in the NHL, as he was just one goal shy of the 30-goal plateau. Not bad for a right winger who was picked 127th overall in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Draft. The last right winger selected before Callahan came just three picks earlier, as the Philadelphia Flyers chose David …

Trenton Update: 10/12-10/18

Last season, the Trenton Titans finished dead last out of the 20 teams in the ECHL with 21 wins and 52 points over 72 games. During their time at the bottom of the league last year, the squad only produced one winning streak that was three games or longer. Just three games into the 2012-13 season the Titans have already matched that total, as they sit atop the “E” with a record of 3-0-0. Six other teams in the league are undefeated, but none of those clubs have played three games yet. Head coach Vince Williams believes there are several …

Behind the Crest: Claude and Isabelle Giroux

Claude Giroux is a bona fide NHL superstar. Those previously unaware of his skills are not so anymore, not after an incredible regular season where he scored 93 points. He’s this season’s Flyers MVP by far, and is most likely next in line to become team captain. But behind the slick moves, the nice suits, and the superstar swag lies a kid of just 24 who is a brother first and a star second to big sister Isabelle. Isabelle, who gained some notoriety of her own when her boyfriend Eric proposed to her on the ice at Citizens Bank Park …
