On this edition of the Flyers Faithful podcast, Steve and Hal talk to Todd Cordell from Hockeybuzz and The Hockey Guys about the 2013 NHL Draft, including Flyers picks Samuel Morin and Robert Hägg, Seth Jones’ drop down to the 4th pick, the Devils’ big trade for Cory Schneider, and much more. Five Questions 2013 NHL Entry Draft: Defense, goaltending and draft strategies

Flyers Faithful is pleased to have Adam Kimelman from NHL.com, Mark Edwards from HockeyProspect.com,  Chris Shafer from Hockey’s Future, Todd Cordell from The Hockey Guys and HockeyBuzz and our very own Jared Abbott participate in the current iteration of Five Questions. This is the first of a five part series focusing on the upcoming draft. The Flyers have little patience with developing young defensemen and little success at drafting high caliber goalies. Are there any players in this upcoming draft that would be a surefire bet to succeed in one of those positions? If so, is it worth it for the Flyers to …

2013 NHL Entry Draft: Updated (5/31) Mock Draft Two

There have been some changes from the time my last mock draft posted until now. The players who rose the most were Nikita Zadorov (London Knights; OHL) and Robert Hagg (Modo; Swedish Elite League). There are also two new faces in this mock draft: Robert Hagg (above) and Madison Bowey (Kelowna Rockets; WHL). The breakdown and full mock draft is below. You can find my first mock here, as well as Tom’s first mock. Additionally, here is Tom’s revised mock. …

Tom Zulewski and I wanted to compile our very own top 30 list of prospects for the upcoming draft. This is a list of who I believe are the top 30 players available. This does not necessarily mean each player will be drafted in the position I have them in. You can find Tom’s Top 30 here. Also be sure to check out my mock draft, as well as Tom’s mock draft. Seth Jones, D, Portland Winterhawks (WHL) (6’4” 208 lbs.) Nathan MacKinnon, C, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) (6’0” 182 lbs.) Aleksander Barkov, C, Tappara (SM-liiga) (6’3” 209 lbs.) Jonathan Drouin, LW, Halifax Mooseheads …

2013 Draft Eligibles: Is Aleksander Barkov the Finnish Eric Lindros?

If the 2013 draft did not headline a trio of top-tier prospects, Aleksander Barkov would be getting a lot more attention. Unfortunately, with the consensus number one overall pick in Portland Winterhawk Seth Jones, and the next two picks coming from the Halifax Mooseheads (Jonathan Drouin and Nathan MacKinnon) little attention is being focused on European talent. My good friend Tom Zulewski earlier profiled Finnish defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen, who is the top-rated defenseman among European skaters. Ristolainen’s countryman Aleksander Barkov is the number one draft-eligible European skater on NHL Central Scouting’s final ranking that was released Wednesday. Despite conflicting rankings …
