Titans beat Reading, lose Hovinen

The Trenton Titans stayed undefeated with their 3-1 win over the Reading Royals last night at the Sun National Bank Center, but they lost Philadelphia Flyers’ goaltending prospect Niko Hovinen in the process. Scott Wedgewood replaced Hovinen early in the second period and didn’t allow a single goal against, while Marcel Noebels potted the game-winning goal later in the period. Andy Bohmbach led all players with two points, as the Titans improved to 3-0-0 for the best record in the ECHL. Minor League Update: 3/26-4/1

With six games remaining in their schedule, the Phantoms did enough this week to stay within striking distance of the eigth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Four points behind the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate) with a game in hand, Adirondack has a chance to gain the final spot for the postseason, which will surely result in being swept by the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning’s AHL affiliate). Minor League Update: 3/19-3/25

In response to their three-game losing streak last week, the Adirondack Phantoms came out and won all three of their contests this week. After they allowed one goal in their first two wins, the Phantoms allowed four goals last night, but were able to come up with a one-goal win against a team they have struggled against all year. Although the Phantoms only moved up to 11th place in the standings, they are now four points behind the Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks’ AHL affiliate) for eighth in the Eastern Conference. Minor League Update: 3/12-3/18

    The Phantoms dropped all three of their games this week, as they currently sit three points out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Although they sit 13th in the conference with 63 points, the Phantoms are still within striking distance of the Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks’ AHL affiliate), a team Adirondack lost to twice in the last seven days. The Phantoms had another strong week, as they recorded a pair of wins to extend their winning streak to four games before they lost yesterday. Although the winning streak snapped, the Phantoms still have their winning streak on the road intact, a place they have struggled all season long.
