The JVR Conundrum

I don’t want Rick Nash. I don’t want his $7.8 million cap hit. I don’t want his $7.6 million dollar salary. I don’t want Rick Nash. I’m not sure I want James van Riemsdyk anymore, either. Whether Howard Eskin’s report of JVR delaying his torn hip labrum surgery in an effort to not get traded is true or not, JVR needs to speak up. If Eskin’s report is true, I am not upset with JVR. Around the Net for 2.28.12

Welcome to Around the Net, a look at the Philadelphia Flyers on and off the ice. This week we look at the NHL trading deadline which passed yesterday, and the deals (or lack thereof) that went down. No news is good news for JVR: The NHL trading deadline came and went and the Flyers stood pat on the day in question — but that means little as Paul Holmgren was active in the week leading up to the final day of dealing. The Pavel Kubina and Nick Grossman deals were all the tinkering the Flyers’ front office felt they needed. …
