Game 47 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ Buffalo Sabres

Philadelphia Flyers (23-19-4) @ Buffalo Sabres (13-26-5), 7:30pm, NBCSN/CSN-Philly/TSN After a pair of rough contests over the weekend, the Philadelphia Flyers are hoping that they’ll be able to rebound tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Tonight should equate to a win for the Orange and Black, but a loss could put the Flyers in a World of hurt. Neither of the losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning or New York Rangers this past weekend could be described as pretty, but they weren’t losses that should cause this team to fold. If it wasn’t for one of Steve Mason’s worst starts of …

With 14 games under his belt this season, Nick Cousins leads the Phantoms in points with nine.

Phantoms Contributing From All Sides

Fifteen games into the season, the Adirondack Phantoms currently hold a 7-6-2 record as they await Friday’s matchup against the Binghamton Senators. Their record may not look like much, but six of those seven wins came during a recent six-game winning streak that ended on November 10th after a 3-2 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. They’ve now lost two since that win streak, but they are showing some serious promise, thanks to contributions all throughout the roster. One would expect a team’s star players to score points, to lift the rest of the roster up when they’re struggling. Luckily …

Phantoms: New Home, New Hope – The Here and the Now

For a few weeks now, we have been asking various people if the planned move to Allentown next season has any effect on the team. When we spoke to Riley Cote last week, he hit the nail on the head. “The main focus is for us as a team is to win, whether it be in Glens Falls or Allentown.” I saw this firsthand Saturday night after the Phantoms dropped a shootout decision to an undefeated Springfield Falcons team. We talk a lot about the poor performance of the team and what has caused it, but what we haven’t really …

Despite Great Play, Falcons Clip Phantoms in Shootout

An incredibly strong game by the Adirondack Phantoms (1-3-0-2), unfortunately lead to a shootout loss to the undefeated Springfield Falcons (5-0-0-0). Nick Cousins scored his second goal in back-to-back games and Rob Bordson contributed a goal, but it was not enough. Yann Danis was very solid in net, stopping 27 of 29 shots — including a couple really nice glove saves and a diving play that could have changed the momentum of the game in the Falcons’ favor. The Phantoms jumped out to the early lead when Chris VandeVelde skated down the slot with the puck, dumping it back to …

Phantoms Home Finale Ends With Loss to Falcons

The Springfield Falcons have had the Adirondack Phantoms by the scruff for most of the season and typically early on in most of their games. This was the sixth meeting between the Falcons (45-22-5-4) and Adirondack (30-37-3-4) and four out the six times Springfield has scored first within the first six minutes of the game. Boone Jenner opened the scoring in the first period with an assist from Sean Collins. Spencer Machacek and Jake Hansen would both score in the second period with primary assists on both goals going to Nick Drazenovic. Allen York delivered the win by stopping 20 …
